I am sorry if the libopenvideo list seems hostile and closed to you,
because that was certainly not what I had intended, but I will tell
you some of things that I did for libopenvideo, that hopefully helps
you and everyone else to understand why it was designed as it was.

First of all, I put a LOT of energy and work into libopenvideo to get
it to the point where it is today. I contacted lots of developers of
linux video projects individually, I did a lot of explaining about
what I am trying to achive, and why I think it is important, and so on
and so forth.

I am trying to be a humble person, and I don't like to make big and
announcements and promises in public, if I am not yet sure whether
something will work at all.

Ok, I see that point. So I'm glad that you did it at all and do really
appreciate it. Thank you. But I hope the list will become publicly
available any time in future.

I think you did one of the most difficult jobs in this process. Thanks for that and I understand that there are times when a closed mailinglist could be preferable, for example when starting such a mailinglist.

Maybe you can tell us if you are open for a discussion to make the list 'open'? It would be good if we got an open devs and user mailinglist from the same 'consortium'.

In mean time, the community can work out the plans for a website and a user mailinglist. Are there already concrete plans to start?

Kind regards,
