The codec is yuv2 or 2yuv on your big files, forget about it if you are using a camcorder. There is no point, a mpjeg in an AVI file would be more appropriate, or I believe so. In my case : I am doing film scanning in 444 and I get 110 GB for 20~ish minutes of super8 in uncompressed yuv2 data. The only interest is to do color correction on that. As for the psychedelic colors : data are ordered as UYVY instead of YUYV, a codec thing, if one is not working then other one will.
