Hello,
Yes, I'm fully aware of the advantages of running the whole machinery

Since you obviously had a version with float supported, maybe the
question is what is different with the version that doesn't. If you have
the sources for both, and they're fairly close in their release time,
maybe some diff -r could reveal the issue (or am I too optimistic?).

Hi Eli,
I used binaries in both cases, and since I got the recent job finished, I
probably need to take a break from staring at a screen.
In preparation for the next one, though, I may investigate further, especially
if it's an genuine bug in the program, rather than a bug in the user.
I'd guess part of the issue may be - if my assumptions are correct - that all
the filters need to be coded separately in floating point and 8-bit, and of
course this work would be sensibly priotized to get 8-bit out the door.
But I haven't looked at the source, so I should probably keep quiet until I do.
Tony
