Hi David,

...no, digital8 encodes in DV. That is equivalent to MJPEG with a high (but not
the highest) quality setting. Basically, it has a mild inter-frame compression,
but uses chroma subsampling prior to compression, meaning the colour information
is somewhat simplified.

I frequently used a sony digi8 camera, grabbed the results with dvgrab creating
DV in quicktime container, which can be loaded and handled nicely by Cinelerra.
