"Donno much about ... Raid one or two" I should begin singing. I began reading wikipedia i understand that RAID 10 or 50 are may be better for long editings and RAID 0 suites more for short projects. If I understood correctly you have to have at least two backups of the rushes. One you don't touch as second backup. One you use currently to supply and store from RAID drives. One drive for the OS where stays the XML file and RAID drives for storage of the rushes and renders. Once finished and backed up you delete. Another question debated is software or hardware solution. I'm on ubuntu studio 64 10,04 ans soon on 12,04. As I read Linux core has no problem with RAID 0 1 5 and combinations. I didn't look yet how to handle it with software. (Cheaper solution) Some hardware solutions are told easier because all in one but may be a painfull if not the "good ones" (expensive solution) What is your experience ? Would recommend that over RAID 0 in most cases._______________________________________________ Cinelerra mailing list [email protected] https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra |
