I imagine Cisco will phase out the 'old' 877, though who knows. I do appreciate the new model number so we can differentiate between the versions which do and don't support Annex M. I don't see a point to buying the non-M variant other than to fulfill existing orders for the vanilla 877, or to cover requirements when the -M's are out of stock.
