There is perhaps another possibility if you are looking for simple physical layer redundancy. Since you have one router and two switches I assume that you're looking to do just that. You could use IRB and create a bridge group on the router and do your layer 3 config on the bvi.
I'm only throwing this out as a possibility as I've never actually used this in a production environment. Don't see why it won't work though.
