If you have rancid, you could just use a cron job + clogin to schedule logging into the switch and shutting the port.

very easy with energywise....but this is 3550 so doesnt have that
featureset for
timers.... we used to just use extrenal scripts which would use SNMP to
UP/DOWN
a port at certain times
