The PIX should give you a 10 second countdown when it boots. During this time
there is an option to boot into ROM, I think you hit the "Esc" key. If you hit
the "Esc" there it should go into the boot ROM. As far as I understand in
order to add an activation key you must reinstall the IOS. I did this
successfully a few nights ago. When you reinstall the IOS it will ask you if
you want to write to flash. Type Yes. You will then be asked if you want to
load an activation key. This is how I did it the other night. IMPORTANT: you
must select the option to write the IOS to flash or else you will not be
prompted to enter an activation key.
There may be another way to add an activation key, but I don't know it. The
above does work.
