Subject: Modem connection through Console portI am having trouble connecting to a 2610 router through the console port. I have a US Robotics 56k modem hooked up to it. I have this configuration on many routers. Some work fine, some do not. For the ones that do not work, I can dial into the router but I can't get anything to come up on the screen. Once in awhile I will get garbage (aka: Greek, or Crap) on the screen. I have tried many different settings on my terminal emulator, I have used both Reflections and Windows HyperTerm.
I have heard that I may need to add a modem string to my PCs modem, but I don't know it.
If anyone can provide any info I would GREATLY appreicate it
Modem string on the router:
chat-script usr "" "atdt\T" TIMEOUT 60 CONNECT \c
Console Config:
line con 0
exec-timeout 0 0
password ******
login
transport input none

I am new but
I do recall in Lammle's book that the modem should be connected to the aux
port. Would like to hear from others re: this configuration listed
below.
