I believe your config files would be helpful in this case, for example:
Is the Fastethernet port configured for 10mb?
what routes are you trying to exchange? are their respective interfaces up?
(What I mean is that for example if your routers are connected through
ethernet 0 and you want to announce networks connected to ethernet 1,
ethernet 1 must be in up/up state. You can fool the interfaces by "no
keepalive" interface sub-command if they're not attached to any device.)
This can't possibly be a compatibility problem.
