I'm sure that these 'people' can do web searches just fine!!!
The fact of the matter is, this list is comprised of people from the same
field, with like goals! Asking for recommendations on books that others
have
already read is an excellent way to decide what material 'people' are going
to use
to study for the tests!!! If 10 people come back and say a book suckes, it
probably
did!!! This type of information is one of the most useful parts of a
mailing list!
