Subject: reg cisco 2610

sir,

1. i want to know whether cisco 2610 router supports ip version 6 & also

Yes. There is a beta Ipv6 IOS for the 26xx platform. Must have a CCO login
to obtain
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl

a test has to be done.

Let us know how it goes. I'll bet a lot of folks here are curious

2. what is meant by fan, processor, critical cards, flash (redundancy)
with respect to cisco 2610

Probably the same things they mean on other routers, and indeed on other
tech equipment. There is a cooling fan in the power supply. Helps keep
things inside the box operating at a bearable temperature.. processor = cpu
= the brains that run things. Critical cards? I suppose that means the cards
inserted into the slots to provide whatever functionality you desire - ISDN.
T-1, and more. Flash is where the IOS image is stored. Flash redundancy?
Don't know. The 3640 platform offers dual flash slots. I don't know if the
26xx does or not.

3.does cisco 2610 supports non disruptive hot swap of modules in case
of failure

don't know. You could try looking it up on CCO

4. does cisco 2610 supports encryption :

with the appropriate IOS image, yes indeed DES and 3DES

these are the commands for encryption:

   router#conf t
router-config# crypto key generate dss key-name interface serial 0/0
   router-config# exit
router-confg# crypto key exchange dss passive 1880

well, some of them, anyway

5 when we give the bgp command as router bgp , the error message rcd
is unknown protocol.
what is the proper procedure to configure bgp protocol?

Router BGP AS# e.g router BGP 100
There are some good references on CCO for setting up BGP.

expecting ur reply at the earliest
