Great little hack, Ejay!
The other idea, if you're migrating IPs, is to just shorten the lease time.
Say your normal lease is 7 days, then 6.5 days before you're planned
migration change the lease time to like an hour or so.
The other migration method is to use ip address secondary and just let
them migrate as they go with both networks functioning until all leases are
moved over (you disable the first lease, and have a second lease with the
new network configured, which they'll have to go to once their lease runs
out).
You'll always have a few stupid machines out there that just either won't
release the IP, or will go to 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.x.x and won't find the new
DHCP server (or won't accept a new lease). I've never found a rhyme or
reason to it, but it just happens (usually forcing a release all, renew all
fixes it).
