The 3500's use the router like IOS.
The 2900 series that use the CatOS or "set" commands are the 2901 and the
following:

The 2901 is no longer made. It is a two slot fixed configuration. The Sup
module is equivalent to a SupI. The interface blade has twelve 10/100 ports.
It will do ISL trunking. Similar to a 5213.
Provided that the Sup card has 20 Meg of DRAM, it will run 4.5.8 code. A
guess (without looking) at the eBay rate would be $1300-$1500 range. 
If you have the budget then a 5505 with a Sup III and a 5225-R card would be
the way to go. The 5225-R will do ISL, 801.Q, and FastEtherChannel.
