You can get transceivers pretty cheap nowadays - $3-5 each on eBay if you
look hard enough. Otherwise, you're relegated to finding AUI to Thin or
Thick Ethernet transceivers, and running thick Ethernet (gasp! don't forget
the 50 ohm terminators) to connect your Sparcs. Here's 5 for $14.99

The last 8-port AUI hub I saw still required the 15-pin AUI cables on both
sides, and those (unless you find them in a salvage shop) are nearly
impossible to find anymore.
