No, no eval available, but there are pretty good screen shots on the Web
site, yeah, not the same, I know.
My only experience with RouterSim has been with v3, so I can't compare
between 2 and 3. However, I found it very useful in studying for the CCNA
and I think it helped tremendously in passing it. It really re-inforced the
commands in the book, and got me used to a router console / telnet
interface, as well as familiarizing me with the commands supported in RS.
It simulates a 2621, two 2509s, two 804s (good practice for ISDN), a 1900
and one other slightly higher-end switch (don't have RouterSim in front of
me, so I can't tell you which right now). I was slightly disappointed that
it doesn't support the whole command set for each router type, but it's a
much better range than the e-trainer I got with the Sybex book. I
personally think it's a worthwhile investment, particularly since rack time
at the available rent-a-router sites can really add up. Oh, and you don't
have to follow the labs slavishly; I would make up scenarios based on my
current work environment and test them on RS. I feel that if I was in an
interview in which I was asked to demonstrate the commands to accomplish
such-and-so, on an actual router, I'd be able to.

Hummm, imagine my disappointment when looking for an actual evaluation of
the product.
Can someone enlighten me as to the value of (the new) RouterSim on it's
merits?
