Here are a few things that could me a difference!

0) Consider modifing your SPEED statement to something lower
To my knowledge, the maximum the aux port can support is 38400
(I don't know the max for a 14K modem so to be safe I would
set the speed at 9600 and increase after success)

1) Check the dip swiches on your modem (if any)

Dip Swith 3 and 8 should be down, all others should be up on USR robotics
Sporster Modem with dip Switches!

2) Turn on debuging for the modem configuration "debug confmodem"
Use the command "modem autoconfigure type usr_sportster" on the aux 0
to tell the router to use the proprer initialization string

3) Reverse telnet to the modem by typing a live ip and the line for the aux
port
exemple telnet 10.10.10.10 2001

4) Issue the command "at" and see if you get any response. Try the commands
"ati1" "ati2" "ati3" "ati4" and "ati5" to see if the modem response.
If the modem is not on auto answer automatically or if you have any doubt
issue the command "ATS0=0" 0 is numeric

6) Get out of reverse telnet (ctrl shift 6 x), clear the line "clear line
aux0"
Use a PC with Hyperterminal to dial to the router

Subject: dial in to AUX port on 2611 [7:15417]

I have a US Robotics Sportster 14,000 modem connected to my 2611 router via
the AUX port.
The router does not answer the call. I have an enable & enable secret
password set.
I am certain of the satin crossover cable and all other physical layer
issues.

Here is my config:

line con 0
 transport input none
line aux 0
 password cisco
 login
 modem InOut
 transport input all
 speed 115200
 flowcontrol hardware
line vty 0 1
 password cisco
 login
line vty 2 4
 login

Anybody have any ideas?
