Hi,
I 'm buying a ATM to Frame-Relay virtual circuit with 384Kbps Peak Cell Rate
and 192Kbps Sustain Cell Rate. From what I have read and observed, with
this setup, you can never send a sustain throughput higher than the SCR(THe
max I ever get is 165Kbps sustain). You may burst momentarily at the PVC
speed; only if you have collected enough credit previously. At the end your
long term throughput is still the same as your SCR. We set both PCR and SCR
on the router to 384Kpbs and we were able to achieve 360Kbps. However, on
the frame relay side, 65% of our traffic are marked as DE. Which may be
bad? But how bad ??
So I'm debate on either set SCR = 384Kbps or SCR=256Kbps. Either way, the
carrier may drop my data.
If any one has any experience /guideline on oversubscribing a Fr or ATM vc,
please advise.
Thanks in advance.
TD
