I was thinking while reading these posts in this thread and thought "aren't
these modules hot swappable?" So it would seem that if you just reseat the
Gig card while it's up and running, you'd know right away if the module
comes up. Having said that, I would agree with the TAC tech and say
"problem solved". Although I also work in a hospital environment, many
times you'll see a problem like this, and never find an answer. If you want
to find a definitive answer before deploying this equipment, you may never
deploy.

We can safely assume a couple of things (with the information you gave).
Either there was a power issue (power spike, brown out, or even a
straight-up failure) that caused the box to reboot or the Gig module not
being seated correctly somehow caused the box to reboot. Either way, you've
reseated the Gig module (that seems to be working now, correct?) and when
you put this in place in production, you'll have it on a UPS (which would
ideally eliminate any power problem you may have had that may have caused
the reboot). So either way, I think you're covered. If you're installing
in production in two weeks, leave the box on until then (maybe even setup
some PCs to generate traffic through them). If you keep getting reboots,
I'd put on a UPS before going to production just to see if it is a power
issue. If that stops the reboots, you're good. If not, you probably have a
hardware problem that will require an RMA, new equipment, etc.....

Good luck!
