If you are looking for a set based CLI the 1200 series is a good deal 1211
80us FDDI, 1201 200-300us Ethernet. 1900/2800 enterprise version will get
most of what you need for NP. Rent the rest hourly.

The XL's use IOS instead of COS.  On the other hand, the COS-based switches
are MUCH more expensive.  You need some hands-on time configuring the COS
switches for your exam, but it is a lot more cost-effective to rent some
rack time.
