ok,
I have a 4700 with a fastE card that is connected to a 5505 switch (port
16).
|---2514 (vlan1)
4700---switch|---2501 (vlan2)
|---2509 (vlan3)
Port 16 is set for trunking ISL:
(snip)
Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan
-------------------------------------------------------------
2/16 on isl trunking 3
I have 3 subinterfaces setup on the FastE; fa0.1, fa0.2, fa0.3
each subinterface is IP'ed for 3 different networks;
192.168.1.0,192.168.2.0,192.168.3.0 (respectively):
(snip)
FastEthernet0.1 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is DEC21140, address is 0050.732e.da0a (bia 0050.732e.da0a)
Internet address is 192.168.1.250/24
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit, DLY 100 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ISL Virtual LAN, Color 1.
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
I have 1 router pugged into each vlan on the switch:
(snip)
Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is Lance, address is 0010.7be8.72d1 (bia 0010.7be8.72d1)
Internet address is 192.168.3.1/24
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
I have RIP running on all the routers:
(snip)
Routing Protocol is "rip"
Sending updates every 30 seconds, next due in 6 seconds
Invalid after 180 seconds, hold down 180, flushed after 240
Outgoing update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Incoming update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Redistributing: rip
Default version control: send version 1, receive any version
Interface Send Recv Triggered RIP Key-chain
FastEthernet0.1 1 1 2
FastEthernet0.2 1 1 2
FastEthernet0.3 1 1 2
Automatic network summarization is in effect
Maximum path: 4
Routing for Networks:
192.168.1.0
192.168.2.0
192.168.3.0
Routing Information Sources:
Gateway Distance Last Update
Distance: (default is 120)
now the problem. I am not getting the rip updates on the other routers. when
I do a show ip route on the router connected to vlan 2 for instance:
(snip)
Gateway of last resort is not set
C 192.168.2.0/24 is directly connected, Ethernet0
all I see is the connected network. Nothing from RIP?!?
What am I missing??
Thanks,
-Joe-
