I would highly recommend two books: BGP4: Interdomain Routing in the Internet, by John W. Stewart III
Internet Routing Architectures, 2nd Edition by Basaam (Sam) Halabi The first book is deceptively short. It may be small but I found it to have excellent descriptions and examples. I've got the Cisco Press and Sybex CCNP routing books but I didn't like the BGP coverage, it seemed inadequate.
