All,

First, I'm sorry if I have been slow to answer mail or otherwise been remiss
in my duties in the last ten days or so. Launch has created a never-ending
stream of important mail for me, to say nothing of ongoing responsibilities
of wiki work and personnel administration. If I haven't responded, and
you'd like a prompt response, please send me a reminder and I'll try to
respond soon.

Next, I'd like to call your attention to the "Article Mechanics" guidelines,
which I have worked into a fairly advanced state (compared to where they
were a few weeks ago):

http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Article_Mechanics

Please do read these guidelines. Some things here are probably not obvious
(such as avoiding placing anything between the title of the article and the
first sentence). Other things are profoundly important

If you have any comments, feel free to put them on the talk page or the
forums. If you strongly disagree with anything there, it's important that
you speak up, rather than think that this important policy document is a
*fait accompli*. It isn't.

I also would like editors, and professional writers, to feel free to edit
these guidelines. Just please do not change something radically without
discussing it first. But, just for example, additions that reflect current
practices will be greatly appreciated.

Another recently-composed document, meant for Wikipedians, was composed by
Steve Ewen (mostly) and me:

"Introduction to CZ for Wikipedians"
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Introduction_to_CZ_for_Wikipedians

Highly recommended to the many Wikipedians here.

By the way, the wiki has been wonderfully productive in the last week, even
over the weekend. All the participants are to be thanked for this, but
special thanks go to our amazingly helpful constables, particularly Rob
Tito, David Tribe, Stephen Ewen, and Sarah Tuttle (hope I'm not leaving
someone out), who have gone through huge numbers of applications. As a
result, the number of "CZ Authors" has ballooned from something like 850,
pre-launch, to 1,320 as I write this. That's in about one week. And every
one of those new people has a biography, unlike the accounts created after
the big Slashdottings in February.

We're in the process of adding a couple of new constables as a result of the
demand. We're also adding some new editorial personnel administrators, to
help catch us up with editor applications--which we're very much behind on.
We'd have made better progress on a semi-automated application processing
system, but Jason and the tech guys have had to focus mainly on keeping the
services running. Going from one server to five in a short period of time,
as they have, isn't easy.

Finally, when you do much wiki work, please have a look at the Notice Board:

http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Notice_Board

It's regularly updated with all sorts of helpful hints and notices.
