This individual will be part of a dynamic team that builds and implements Business Intelligence solutions that serve as key decision support systems for the leadership of the company. A key for success in this role is a unique blend of technical skills, business knowledge, and strong interpersonal communication skills. * * *ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Ø Data modeling and architecture experience implementing proper data structures for a data warehouse and reporting solution from OLTP systems Ø 3NF and Dimensional modeling architecture experience implementing proper data structures for a EDW and reporting solution from transactional source systems. Exposure to ETL & reporting tools such as Informatica, BO, Microsoft, and/or other BI tools Ø Maintain and version control data modeling repositories Ø Responsible for detail Data analysis and translates Business requirements into logical & physical data model. Ø Works closely with the DBA to help insure the physical design meets the functional and performance requirements of the application. Ø Experience re-engineering physical data structures, and recommends efficiencies as it relates to data storage and retrieval Ø Full life cycle experience in Data Warehousing (good understanding of Kimball & Inmon methodologies), Data Modeling, Data Integration, and Master Data Management Ø Leads complex technical data warehouse discussions on modeling, integration, and overall technology solutions and design Ø Ability to create robust, scalable, sustainable data architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion given budgetary constraints and availability of data and skilled resources Ø Excellent communication (written and verbal). * * *QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS* Ø 8+ years - Data Architecture / Modeling experience; delivering both logical models and physical designs with extensive experience with translating business needs into data requirements Ø A degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, equivalent work experience of 7+ years overall IT or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired Ø At least 3-5 years experience with data modeling tools like ERwin, ER Studio, Oracle Designer and/or other modeling tools Ø Experience with normalized OLTP,MDM and DW Dimensional modeling techniques, Star & Snowflake schemas, modeling slowly changing dimensions and role playing dimensions, dimensional hierarchies, and data classification Ø Experience with maintaining data dictionary and managing technical, process, and business metadata Ø Experience with building a Data Warehouse from ground up preferred Ø Experience in data modeling in a Railroad or Freight Forwarding or logistics or similar industry is preferred.
