JD- Employment Type: Contract City: NYC State: New York Description: Location: NYC RATE: opem Duration: 6 months+ *Role Description* ** *The Fixed Income Deal Capture Support team (DCS) provides technical application support to users from the Front, Middle and Back Office teams of the fixed Income business, predominantly in the New York Offices but also across the satellite US offices, Latin American offices and to additional global sites in London, Paris, Tokyo and Singapore when required. On site support coverage in New York is between the hours of 07:00 to 19:00 (via shifts) although any applicants must be flexible in their working hours as necessary to support a global investment bank’s requirements.* *DCSsupports a large number of systems (predominantly proprietary) handling trade entry, position keeping, risk management for a wide variety of products including Credit, IRD, Bonds and Repos. The role therefore involves close contact with Front Office teams and applicants must be capable of remaining calm and dealing with a dynamic high pressure environment.* The DCS team is regularly called upon to investigate problems involving complex financial products and calculations and knowledge of investment banking is therefore a must, however, knowledge of fixed income specifically, whilst desirable, is not essential provided other adequate investment banking and product knowledge can be demonstrated. Similarly an investigative mind-set and the ability to understand interactions between systems will be of great advantage for any applicant. Owning a problem from the initial user contact, reporting this problem in the bank’s proprietary reporting tool, following through to a resolution, liasing with other teams and developers where necessary, communicating at all times with the user and delivering a final resolution to them are all fundamentals to a good support analyst and this should be reflected in the applicants understanding of the support role. This is a unique and challenging role in a dynamic environment where one day will be unlike the next so the ideal candidate will need to be flexible, having the ability to adapt quickly and easily to this ever changing environment and role. If desired this role will allow the successful applicant to evolve to other roles in the Fixed Income business (development etc) after a minimum 2 year placement in the Support team. Special Aptitudes: Confident (e.g. able to approach traders and users with ease) Able to own issues until resolution, even when this requires the help of others Good organizational, prioritization & troubleshooting skills High energy level, enjoying challenges and a fast-paced environment working hours as necessary to ensure critical problems are dealt with in a timely fashion Team player Excellent Communication Skills - effectively communicate with users of differing technical abilities, outside vendors and other technical groups’ worldwide. Conscientious (ability to work without close supervision and deliver results but provide regular updates and escalation to management where appropriate.) Display self-initiative, motivation and an enthusiastic, ‘Can do’ attitude, the applicant must be a self-starter who can pick up problems and run with them without needing to be assigned work. *Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:* Approx. 3 years Support or business experience in the Investment Banking (preferably Fixed Income) business Excellent problem analysis skills *Computing Skills Required:* Detailed knowledge of PC platforms, relative operating systems (WinNT/XP) and application software, as well as knowledge of network connectivity. Knowledge of large well/known RDBM’s such as Oracle or/and Sybase. Competent SQL Ideal candidate will have experience of programming/regression testing/application Support. Other Requirements: Ability to start early/finish late and both if needed Agree to be on-call to provide over-night/out of hours support where required (not regularly) Willing to travel (there will be a possibility (though not a guarantee) of international travel on relatively short notice (most likely to London) so any applicant should be prepared for this.
