There actually is no field that holds the current account balance in citrusdb, it just looks at payments made and invoices owed and figures it out on the fly.
I could have it automatically insert a credit to the account, however my billing people told me not to do it that way since our large customers often pay multiple sites with one payment, so they have to put the payment on multiple records, instead of just crediting one record. One could modify the code so that if there was an amount paid that was more than the amount owed to INSERT a new user_service record that has a type of credit with that amount.
