Hi Martin and others,

Funnily enough, Doc and I both met each other at a symposium/conference in
Portugal, where the topics were centred on the Portuguese Guitar, the
so-called English Guitar and a few related instruments. It was called: A
Guitarra Portuguesa - Simposio Internacional, Universidade de Evora, 7-9
September 2001. One Corsican gave a talk and a recital with a singer on the
eight-course Corsican Cetara. Papers from the conference were published in a
book called 'A Guitarra Portuguesa' published by ESTAR (email:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]). Looking at it now, I see that the Corsican's paper is only
two and a bit pages long and is in French. His name is M.Raffaelli (don't
know what the M stands for). Unfortunately, I recall that Jim Tyler, who was
also giving a paper, poured scorn on Raffaelli's supposed history of the
Corsican cittern...So I don't know if it is worth looking at...

The concert was great - very passionate, with very virtuoso-style playing,
and the singing was the usual mixture of sex, death and Catholicism!
