Hi Stuart, I hate to disagree with you, but Geminiani's guittar music is a lot like other guittar music, not just Marella. I suppose it depends on how one looks at it. The only thing that makes it stand out (among the "serious art music" written for guittar) is that it's in tablature. It is, in general, very good music, with beautiful harmony. One of these days I'll record it...
I have the CD you mentioned - it's played on modern classical guitar, and it's a selection - he doesn't play the scale passages at the beginning of each piece. I saw a complete facsimile a few years ago at the Urbino school - it looked fine to me, it that it was clear, complete and easy enough to play from.
