Hi cittern persons,

I'm new on the list, and happen to be particularly interested in "English
Guittars".

I have just acquired a Thompsons guittar. Actually it has a Preston stamp on
the back of the tuning head which is stamped over with "Thompsons".
Does anybody out there know anything about these builders?

Any information about playing techniques? Right-hand fingernails, for
instance? A lot of these insts have those funny keyboard attachments (some
even have built-in plucking mechanisms), which plucked with quills, I
imagine. My instrument doesn't have any of that.

Any info on how they would have been used in ensembles or with singers?

I downloaded the Bremner and Oswald books from Rob MacKillop. Any music
tips?
