Welcome to the cittern list, Andy. I'm sure DK will give you a good rundown on makers. I own a Preston myself.
You can find a lot of info here: www.musicintime.co.uk Rob MacKillop and myself have guittar stuff tucked away there. The historical tutors from the 18th century say not to use nails. There are plenty of collections in the BL and other libraries for guittar and voice. Often the guittar part is simply the melody with an occasionalbass note; other composers, like Rudolf Straube for instance, writes fuller guittar parts. It's a great instrument and I'm sure you're going to enjoy playing it. If you have any questions, let me know. I could talk about them all day, Doc Rossi -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .
