Tony McManus is back in Scotland for a while, and tonight's Travelling Folk programme on Radio Scotland, hosted by Karine Polwart in Archie Fisher's absence, features Tony in a live session:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscotland/view/show.shtml?travelling On Saturday November 11th, Tony has an afternoon small group guitar workshop, with an evening gig to follow, both at The Cobbles Inn, Bowmont Street, Kelso (in the heart of the town, just off the main square). This gig and workshop form part of a mini-fest, Friday night featuring Irish singer, songwriter and zouk player Jimmy Crowley from Cork; both nights featuring open mics before the guest artist, and bar sessions afterwards. A PDF leaflet giving all the details can be downloaded: http://www.iconpublications.com/kelsofest.pdf It includes info on overnight accommodation. The overall price of £40 includes a Saturday morning guitar 'meet' and sandwiches at lunchtime, the cost without this is simply the two concerts and the workshop: £8 full, £5 concession for each concert; £20 full, £15 concession for the workshop. The event is underwritten by TMSA, the Scottish Traditional Music and Song Association, and TMSA membership (£10 annually) entitles concessionary rate; concessionary rate also applies to Kelso Folk & Live Music Club members booking in advance.
