It is far too early to have an opinion yet, first I have to do the basic work 
into understanding the system.
 I need time........and it is a question of economy. The gold price is on a 
damn high level, so such a string should last one or two 
lifetimes.................of the LUTHENIST

Sure, Kevin,
pure gold is not stable enough, that's right. 1g can be stretched to 1 km (!!) 
It is a question of alloying (melting in other materials)
And THAT will be a real task to find out, given Peter's calculation help
