Ok, will do! I've also read the messages from two weeks ago: http://lists.ffii.org/pipermail/cjk/2007-December/002074.html >>>> $ for i in *.pfb do echo "$(basename $i .pfb) $(basename $i .pfb) >>>> <$i" \ >>>>>> cyberbit.map >>>> done >>> if you use dvipdfmx, this map file is not needed. I generate ukai.ttf as > ZenKai-Uni-%s.pfb and get ZenKai-Uni-XX.{afm,tfm,enc,pfb}. Then, i > rename all file to ukaiXX.{tfm,pfb}. My map file is like this: TFM > PSFontName <PFB, ukai00 ZenKai-Uni-00 <ukai00.pfb. I just want to pdf > file show the font name as ZenKai-Uni-XX, not ukaiXX. when i generate > fonts, i also comment the private fonts in Unicode.sfd, which is form E0 > to F8. Interesting. Perhaps we should all agree upon the configuration of these fonts, so the Ukai and Uming fonts are the same on every distribution. I package CJK and some fonts (Arphic, Wadalab and soon some modified Korean fonts from HLaTeX), and have been pondering to switch from Arphic to Arne Götje's TTF. > On my test, PDFs embeded truetype are smaller than those embeded type1 > fonts. Do you know the reason? Now I use LaTeX to get dvi, and dvipdfmx > to get Version 1.5 PDF, which is the smallest pdf version. No idea why embedded TTF are smaller than Type1 fonts. > p.s. Which input method do you use? I use SCIM on Gnome, and the IME in Emacs. My favourite modules are Smart PinYin and CangJie. CangJie has a steep learning curve, but I'm feeling that I can type most characters after a bit of searching. And it's much more fun than PinYin. Heheh.
