Hi Denis,
I studied only classical Chinese. In addition, I am unaware of what
appears to be a very complex system of coding for these characters.
In terms of the character "ma", I'm familiar only with the variation
with the plant radical on the top, and has the meaning of "cannabis"
In terms of traditional and simplified characters, yes 麼 has been
simplified to 么, e.g. they took only the bottom part of the character.

Hey Dennis, I am doing the same time, and after some struggle came up
with a solution.
Thanks, but my problem has to do with some of the characters,
not all of them. Anyway, I think this boils down (at least in part)
to some incorrect font usage on my side. For instance,
my source file has \CC么〔麽〕and this assumes 麽 to be a
traditional
character, but apparently this character is not in bsmi.
Instead, it is in gbsn. Is that correct?
Probably a number of my problems are of that type, but I guess
not all?
Denis
