The volcanic rock is reffered to as a stone and is used to pull out loose, or dead hair. Gives a smoothed apearnace if used gently, can result in balding spots if over used. Be very carefull that the loose bits of stone don't get into the dogs eyes as they can cause very painful scratches on the eyeball. You can also use a #10 clipper blade, sans clipper. Use it as a comb or scrapper and again pull out dead hair. This is called carding. Gets rid of that fuzzy look. For fly away hair, use what every mother uses on unruly hair.... Spit.
