It has nothing to do with Oxygen or humidity.
It is the perfect temperature completely surrounding the puppy, not just
warming from underneath. It is not a nest or heating pad effect, but just
like a human baby incubator. As you know, chill and low body temperature is
the biggest cause of death in a newborn. It's best for the newborns to be
placed in the incubator until they are dry and warm. In most puppies this
happens fast, but in others, they need a couple of hours, and in problem
babies, sometimes days.
I learned about the incubator from an RN delivery nurse friend, who also
raises exotic birds, and saves many parrot babies with hers.
