We have an electric fence, which has worked quite well. Two other
possibilities to consider, if you are sure there isn't a break somewhere is
(1) that the batteries in the collar are in need of replacing (although if
you have more than one dog,and all the collars are responding equally, that
would be unlikely) ,or
(2) the system got zapped by lightning. That happened to our neighbors fence,
and although the lights in the main box in the garage still lit appropriately
as if the system was active, it wasn't. It required a visit from the company
to fix their main box in the garage. Oh-- one last possibility-- by any
chance, could a wire could have been moved (have you done any yardwork
lately??). If the wires are too close to each other in the ground-- ie if the
signals from one wire could reach the other wire ( I believe its about 3
feet) the system could accidentally cancel itself out in that area. This
could also happen if you turned up the knobs in the main unit in your garage.
This doesn't increase the intensity of the "correction" in the collar, only
increases the intensity of the signal from the wire-- so it reaches out
further (as it were). So if the wires were fine but someone increased the
signal power, possibly thinking this would fix a "weak" signal, i9t could
possibly have the opposite effect and could accidentally cancel out another
wire. Hope this helps!!
