Cavaliers have very large, sometimes clumping, platelets. In order for the
count to be accurate, the blood must be drawn with a wide bore needle and
hand counted. Machine counts are totally inaccurate for Cavaliers. If your
friends are anywhere near Knoxville, TN, they may want to participate in the
platelet study that's going on now with Cavaliers.
