Hello list,
I was so pleased to hear the good news about Sara. I too received an email
from Mr. Cox and I do believe he is making an attempt to express that the
Dallas SPCA responds to the community (even if the community in this case is
not local, but the Cavalier Community worldwide!)
I have just responded to his note with my thanks and compliments for a job
well done. I always think in cases like this one should remain polite and
friendly, we certainly don't want a repeat of this situation if another lost
dog (of any breed) should find her way to the Dallas SPCA and be
unreasonably prevented from being reunited with her owners.
It is possible that Mr. Cox did not even know about this situation until he
was besieged by our emails!
It's wonderful to know that as a group our voice was heard and that we
contributed to this happy result; I feel as if Sara was our "Elian" (without
the Federal Agents, thank goodness...)
Below is the note I sent him...

Dear Mr. Cox,
Thanks for writing with the update on the CKCS crisis - this is wonderful
news indeed. I'm very relieved to hear that the new adoptive family "did
the right thing" and finally agreed to return the dog. I think it's great
that the SPCA will help them find a new dog; it sounds like a very good
solution for all.
I can understand that this was a sticky situation, but I'm sure that the
SPCA makes the welfare of the animals their top priority and in this case
the dog in question undisputedly deserved to be returned to her original
family; the people who have known and loved her all her life.
It's never easy to make all the humans happy in every situation, but it's
heartening to know that the Dallas SPCA respects the rights of the innocent
animals for whom the organization is in existence to protect.
Thank you,
Rebecca A. Barnes

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel goes home!
Good news to all those who expressed concern about the lost Cavalier King
Charles Spaniel that found its way to the SPCA Animal Care Center and was
then placed in a new home...
The family who adopted the dog agreed to return it to the original owner and
the SPCA agreed to help them find a new dog. The original owner has
indicated that he plans to have the dog microchipped in our clinic in case
it becomes lost in the future.
Our thanks to all of you who expressed your concerns.
Warren Cox
President
SPCA of Texas
