I think there's probably something in there as well, or maybe an irregularity
in the nasal passage that lets debris collect, tho I've not heard of that in
the nose, only the lungs.
She was on 250/mg amoxy/day just to hold her while she was preg and when the
puppies were nursing. She's on nothing now, has been off the amoxy for around 3
weeks. I have a call in to him, I suspect he'll put her on something a lot
stronger, plus send in the samples for biopsy.
The vet (and he's a specialist) pretty much ruled out tumor, that was the first
thing he was looking for, so I didn't panic re: your horse. Appreciate the
reassurance. No personality changes. Actually, she's not acting sick at all, is
better since the little cedar whatever was removed. But still thick discharge
in there.
They found a small (1/4 inch or so) piece of dried cedar stem? leaf? it's quite
spiny so you could see it would easily get lodged. They ran the scope from the
nostril and and also from the throat, they say it was inhaled through her nose,
from its position.
Shall let you know what happens.
And thanks to all for the suggestions & ideas, I'll suggest them to the vet.
