Thanks for the kind concern Jeanie and to all overseas listers,
I think that the hardest thing for us now is that those of us who have
located our family are still uncertain about friends; one of my friend's
husband is a neurologist at Einstein in NY and another (my best
childhood friend) takes the PATH into NYC right under the World Trade
Center to work. There are many more friends and extended family in NYC
from which there is no news. One doesn't want to call for fear of tying
up precious free phone lines so that their immediate family can be
informed first. I think we all will know in the next days how very high
the toll on us personally was today. The toll on us as a Nation is
devestating; yes, we are strong and there is no doubt that we will
rally, but we were brought to our knees together in fear and prayer
today while all borders closed. Airports remain closed and no travel has
commenced. Although the President spoke tonight of life as usual
tomorrow, many cities in the east are still locked down. Perhaps by
morning we will feel more at ease.
All Massachusetts Federal buildings remain closed as well as monuments.
We are unsure of school closings, etc. and won't know until later
tonight. Perhaps we will all go back about life in a somewhat shell
shocked manner. Many here have lost family and friends on the flights
from Boston as well.
For those of you in NYC please keep reporting in to us that you are all
right. I have heard that Janet York and her family are safe; but worry
for others.
