when I was 12 years old and in my first and only two weeks of girls Scout
Overnight camp, my best friend told me about her grandmother, a devout Roman
Catholic Irish lady, predicting the end of the world 2 years from the year
we were in camp. I brought this to my friend's attention and she was not at
all upset but the fact that we would be only 14 years old if in fact the
world would end two years hence.
I remember the "predicted" year passing and that was several decades ago. I
remember thinking what Mary Lou's Grandmother must have thought with the
world prevailing rather than ending, and I resolved then to not believe this
stuff, overall. What I have come to believe , however, is that if we, as
the human race, do not exercise tolerance for our fellow man, and respect
and regard for our earth's life-sustaining resources, we are all doomed by
our disregard -long-term-for both. Nostradamus was, in my opinion, a
facilitator of thought. His observations were obtuse, and while noone
listened to him, and few heard him, his basic warnings/teachings hold true
today and for the future.
