I hope I have managed to delete my friend's personal info from this post, but it is interesting and reveals a new insight into other experiences. This is not a "dog person" but a couple who do have several of my dogs as loving pets. I wrote to tell her I hoped they were all okay and received this in return (her son is living in London temporarily.) Note the next to last paragraph and you will agree it is "dog related." Phyllis << Joe and I were on our way back from London on Tuesday when our plane was diverted to Nova Scotia for 4 days. There were approx. 44 planes on the tarmac with 10,000 people detained in Nova Scotia. We just got home Friday night... I applaud the Canadians for the development and execution of the best disaster recovery plan I have ever witnessed. The comradarie and the services provided were excellent; except for the fact that we were in a Race track/Stadium and slept in the garage on a concrete floor (air mattresses were provided, thank god) and didn't have a shower for 4 days. Learned how to perform an effecient sponge bath and wash my hair in the Ladies Room sink.... Food was provided 24 hours a day (volunteer chefs from local restaurants came in); donations of food from Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, etc for snacks; they had a medical facility set up; a children's area with TVs and a truckload of toys, games, books, etc from Toys-R-Us; Medication counter if you needed your meds refilled (since our luggage was all on the plane); a toiletry counter that would rival Rite Aid, everything from day-to-day things you need to personal hygiene, make-up, adult pampers, baby bottles, baby food, t-shirts, towels, washcloths, etc.; approx. 30 Big screen TVs were donated from an electronics store (like the Wiz); they set up 50 phones within 20-30 minutes of our arriving (and the calls were free); internet access. Most importantly the Project Manager provided a status every 2 hours of our position and exit strategy. They even provided some sort of entertainment at night, i.e., band, bagpipes. My favorite was the dog agility and games competition from the local canine training center. Because of their attention to detail, the crowd (there were 1500 in our complex) was calm and thankful for our good fortune. >> ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
