I do wish people would learn the difference between a "line" and a kennel name.
As for long-lived dogs, I think that there are long-lived dogs in ANY line...or should
I say, there have been long-lived dogs in every line I've ever
heard of. If one would do their homework one would discover that.
As far as having Homeranne Caption "close up," how close would you like it, Suze?
Without thinking very hard I can think of several dogs with Caption in a 4-generation
pedigree--some within the first 3 generations. His son, ENG CH
Cherokee of Rossbonny, also lived to a wonderful age, and, I believe, with a clear
heart...he also has descendants over here.
There are also many dogs here that are direct descendants of the Salador dogs who
lived well into their teens.
Every line, every kennel, will have its detractors and its promoters. Every line,
every kennel, will have dogs that died early (from heart problems
or from whatever...not every dog who dies young does so from heart related problems)
and dogs that lived a long time.
Famous dogs who die young make people talk...lots of dogs who live well into their
teens don't get talked about.
Before anyone gets into the mindset of thinking that a particular dog is the only
dog with the sought after bloodlines, one might want to do more
research, and before anyone believes everything one hears, one might also want to
broaden one's information base, and not depend on receiving unbiased
information from people who might have very strong opinions that may or may not be
true, or even based on facts.
