I find the post a bit nerve wracking... I suppose every state is different..but I think here in NY state dog owners train their own dogs (pets) to be therapy dogs. My sister-in-law has one of my Cavaliers and Sunshine is a registered, licensed therapy dog. Gloria donates her time (as well as Sunshine) to visit various hospitals, hospices, nursing homes as well as schools. I agree Cavaliers are ideal for this sort of work..there gentle nature as well as the way they cuddle and even the silkiness of their coat..but I'd be very careful about donating one..I didn't like the tax deductible reference either.
