Donna, The same thing happened to me. The day my bitch was due her regular vet told me he was leaving that day for a week's vacation. I'm glad I gave him the heads-up call. It gave me time to contact another vet close by and take my bitch to him for a checkup. Problem was no vets here work after 5 p.m. and of course. . . . But there is a website I have ordered whelping products from that has, for a fee, an expert who will be on call for you. they also have all the products you will ever need for monitoring the whelping: www.whelpwise.com. Turned out we had no problems but I sure felt better knowing I could call on a whelping expert. Liz Gordon Merrychase
