George Alston may be everything every one says HOWEVER, you need to remember you paid this man GOOD money to have him teach you what he knows and he deserves the curtesy of your attention and non confrontations in HIS class. You are there to learn what he has to say and his ways of doing things. So if you don't like what he says then save it for comments to yourself and forget what you don't agree with and use what you do agree with. But don't belittle the man or his ways in front of his students in his class. It just isn't the nice thing
Cathy, I would agree with you except for two things. I've attended Mr. Alston's seminar and have read and re-read his book -- I learned a lot from both. However, as you said, we pay our money to attend his seminar -- he wouldn't have his thriving seminar business without us and our money. We have a right to ask questions, and we have a right to know things coming in -- maybe even a few things he doesn't know. If a teacher feels belittled because he doesn't know *everything,* perhaps he shouldn't be teaching. When I attended his seminar, Mr. Alston was the one who seemed bent on belittling several members of the group. He is very knowledgeable and has a lot to offer. It's too bad he can't do it without trying to humiliate people. I think it's fair to warn would-be students that they need to wear their thickest skin if they go to an Alston seminar. It's probably way too late to teach him any new tricks, but he might benefit from a clicker training seminar or two!
