Dear Anne (and Helen and Susan - the groups discussing this):

I had a litter of four puppies, three which were born dead. I had all sorts of
testing done before she was bred and everything came out fine. Well,
everything wasn't fine. She was tested again after the puppies were born dead,
and she had pseudomonas in her vaginal area and something else in her uterus.
The vet did a C&S in both places. I had to give her one thing for a certain
period of time to kill the pseudomonas and another thing to kill the bacteria
that was in her uterus. You would think in a city as large as Houston that a
good vet could be found, one that is experienced in breeding, etc. I have heard
about a vet that specializes in breeding, a lady DMV, and I am going to take
this bitch to her real soon as she will be coming in season again in February
sometime. She has had another season in the meantime and rested. She appears
to be in excellent health.

I would love to know what any of you know about pseudomonas. Also, I have never
been able to find a vet that would stand by when I'm going to have puppies. I
don't jump around with different vets. In other words, this one gets all of my
business, and I think he knows that, and I've been giving him my business for
the 15 years I've been breeding Cavaliers. I am a small breeder but he does
everything for me and I pay him promptly. He doesn't give discounts either.

Take care.
