It is my understanding that it is not unusual to find mycoplasma in a
vaginal culture...however elevated levels can cause problems.  The analogy I
think of is yeast.  Most folks have yeast, but sometimes it flares up when
other things are suppressed.
(Prednisone comes to mind.)

My vet treats mycoplasma with orbax and is reluctant to treat
prophalactically since it may suppress everything else and cause mycoplasma
levels to elevate, if present.  If I remember correctly he explained that
mycoplasma is somewhere between a bacteria and a fungus.
